This memory, that relationship, those opportunities.
Some die slow and quietly from neglect or lack of need or use.
Others snuff out instantly, screaming or just a soft whimper.
Some by my hands, some theirs'.
Leaves falling from a tree can't go back.
Karl, leaves fallen from a tree can't go back, but new leaves always come in the spring.
ReplyDeleteTrue. I have to be careful not to prune too many branches.
DeleteI've done a lot of pruning in the past two seasons...there is a time for every purpose. I found something in Ecclesiastes 7 this morning: "the day of death is better than the day of birth. It is better to go to the house of mourning than the house of feasting; for this is the end of all men....The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth."
ReplyDeleteI accidentally opened on this page and verse; I had never read it before, although I've heard of the novel "The House of Mirth." Your sadness is wise.
I've been pruning a bit too as a side-effect of being in therapy. Some of them were pretty unhealthy relationships. Your Bible citation is very profound. I think I've spent a bit of time both of those houses.
DeleteI like the words and the image.
ReplyDeleteHow was it done? It looks somewhat like Photopolymer Gravure. I found this process when it was presented at a photographers gathering I went to in June and hope to take a class next year when I go.

D.L. - Thank you for noticing Leila and Hana. I can't exactly remember how I created this photo in Photoshop Elements a few years a few years ago, but I think it was under Filters>Sketch>Charcoal and then played with intensity settings. It was pretty simple. I am novice when it comes to many of Photoshops magical abilities.
